Siren Fury Storm Siren Mary Weber Books
Well, I'll be honest, I kind of gave this book a mental ultimatum. Either the problem presented in the last page of book 1 was majorly fixed or I was out. :-) Thankfully, book 2 did not disappoint! I now have book 3 in my possession and am really hoping the series continues to be enjoyable. The only complaint I really had about book 2 was that there were one or two parts that just confused the snot out of me. I mean, they were supposed to be delusional I guess, but it was weird to read.Setting is great, world building mostly solid, characters phenomenal, writing well done, and thankfully no ultra-graphic language, romantic scenes, or violence. There is mild language, but of the world's words, not what we would consider foul language. There are several romantic moments, filled with tension, but it's all clean and nothing more than a drawn out kiss. There is definitely violence, but it's tactfully done and with minimal graphic descriptions.

Siren Fury Storm Siren Mary Weber Books Reviews
I enjoyed this book a lot, though not quite as much as the first one. I liked Nym's strength and determination in Sirens Song, but i think her character backsliding a bit in this one. She seemed to always be making spur of the moment, bad decisions....and she refused to listen to her best friends advice, which really bugged me because IT KEPT HAPPENING! Also, I'm not really a fan of the way that the ending added another cliffhanger (on top of the suspenseful, sort of cliffhanger that's already there)......similar to what happened with the last book actually.
Overall, I liked this book and it was a good, solid continuation to the series. It definitely moved the plot and storyline forward, even if the timeline seemed unrealistically short.
Would I recommend it? Yes, IF you loved the first book, Storm Siren, as I did. If the first book was "ok" for you, I'd probably skip this )
This adventure picks up right where Storm Siren left off. It was such a jaw dropping finale I wasn't sure what to expect reading the second book. This book was very good, but at the same time, very dark. We discover more about Draewulf and his abilities, and what he is trying to accomplish against Nym and her people. I can't really say much more than that for fear of spoiling the end of the first book and revealing what happens in this one! I will say this though, keep on reading, as it is well worth your time, and there may or not be another jaw dropping occurrence! Great job Mary!!
I loved the first book. I was absorbed by it and flew through it in about two days.
Something was missing with this one. I felt like there was a lot (a LOT) of talking and not so much doing. They would move from one place where they would talk, to a different place where they would talk some more, and so on. I found it difficult to stay interested this time around; I would find myself reading an entire page with no idea what I just read because my mind was distracted thinking about something else.
The last 10% of the book woke me up though, and I've already pre-ordered #3 because I do love the story and the characters and the writing is vivid and descriptive.
Much more tension-filled as the stakes have risen considerably! So much of book one had to be setup that the risk in what was really going on felt a bit sidelined. Not so in book two! Nym makes some hard choices and not all of them are good ones. I confess to missing certain characters from book one a great deal, but spending more time with Princess Rasha made up for it. I'm so glad Nym has such a good friend, as most of the rest of her life is crazy and hard. There were bits that still frustrated me, definite times that I wanted to scream at Nym for her choices, but the overall fun of the story kept me reading. And I was SO, so happy at what happened at the end. It was about time! Still, Ms. Weber's use of cliffhangers is alive and well, so I was pleased to have book three waiting! )
While this is definitely a bridge story between the previous book, Storm Siren, and the third book, Siren's Song, it manages to hold its own. Taking place primarily on a Bron airship, much of Nym's time is spent trying to navigate politics without revealing the loss of her powers to the wrong parties. Some of the most interesting developments are in the world-building that the author does as Nym learns about Bron's more outwardly brutal and martial culture. Along the way, she makes risky, desperate choices with consequences that may be more far-reaching than she knows.
The pace seemed a bit slower than the previous book and the story was not quite as engaging, with Draewulf seeming to spend much of his time locked away in his room on the airship, but these are issues that will likely resolve themselves as the story continues.
While I had purchased a print copy of this book, I listened to the audiobook version due to time issues. The narration by Sarah Zimmerman was fantastic and her accent enhanced the text.
If you have enjoyed the previous book, then definitely continue the trilogy. I am quite curious to see where the final book takes Nym, and I'm looking forward to reading it.
This one had me on the edge, not only because I needed to know what happened, but with some of Nym's choices! Ack! You know in those horror movies when you're screaming at the character, "Don't go there!"? Same with this book. I kept hoping Nym wouldn't make these choices and then she'd do something else that surprised me and which got her into more trouble. But I totally got why she did what she did, even though I wish she hadn't. (I'm being evasive because I'm trying to avoid spoilers.) But she's at rock bottom--powers gone and Eogan in mortal peril. She felt powerless and wanted to act. We've all been there. Weber gave us some really deep dilemmas that Nym had to choose between her heart and everyone else. So difficult. As with the others in the Storm Siren series, this is beautifully written and full of moral complexity. Loved it.
